The NFL has suspended Steelers wide receiver Eli Rodgers for the first game of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

His suspension will begin after the final week cutdowns and will end after the week 1 contest against the Cleveland Browns on Sept 9th. Rodgers will be allowed to participate in team meetings, train and rehab workouts.
Rodgers had the opportunity to earn snaps at the slot position with the departure of Martavis Bryant but has so far been outplayed by recent draft pick James Washington and undrafted free agent Damoun Patterson.
