Flat Earth Kyrie Irving: Let's Hear Him Out

Writer: Tony YasharTony Yashar

Kyrie Irving. What comes to your mind when that name is mentioned to you? For those that are diehard NBA fans, the name brings to mind a dazzling point guard out of the University of Duke. A former NBA number 1 overall draft pick in 2011, selected to be the cornerstone of a then rebuild Cleveland Cavaliers franchise. Irving went on to establish himself in the NBA, becoming the 2013 rookie of the year, NBA All-Star game MVP, and 5-time NBA All-Star. In 2016 he won his first NBA championship with Cleveland, hitting the biggest shot in game 7 to take the lead and ultimately win the game.

Lately, however, what comes to mind about Kyrie Irving is his uncertainty about the Earth. His unpopular perspective has been met by many with a great deal of ridicule and scrutiny. It has now become a side joke whenever his endeavors are mentioned.

Uncertainty

Irving has stated that he is unsure whether the Earth is indeed round, causing many to wonder about his intelligence and insult his aptitude. His statements seem unreasonable to most, in part due to the evidence that the modern era has provided our society.

The infamous Apollo 11 which blasted off on July 16, 1969, provided footage of Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins as the first men to walk on the moon. This event was a feat in American history, propelling us to the forefront of the space exploration race, and providing evidence that the earth is indeed a sphere planet. Also, his viewpoint is a direct contradiction to the many satellite photos and images that have been taken to further give credence to the shape of the planet we occupy.

Extreme Intelligence

So how can Irving sound so absent-minded in making this statement? How was he able to survive a year at Duke with that idiotic outlook, disregarding common knowledge and obvious evidence? Did he sleep in school? Is he easily persuaded by flat earth theorists who still question the evidence?

One thing that comes across clearly whenever Kyrie has been interviewed or spoken with candidly includes young man's extreme intelligence. Not only is he well spoken and articulate, but seemingly very educated.

Leaving One to Wonder

With so many unknowns in the world today, such as government procedures, top-secret operations, and unknown agendas by many powerful people, what is really true and untrue?

Does he have any evidence or can he present anything to cast doubt on the evidence already presented as being fact? Are we, as a people, so closed minded and trustworthy of our leaders that we won’t at least question what we have been told or shown?

Considering all the inconsistencies of people, fallacies documented in history, agendas, and conspiracies that have been exposed, not only in American history but world history, we should all be willing to discuss it. Kyrie is willing. Maybe, we should hear him out, even if we disagree.
