The NBA Finals will shift to Cleveland tonight, with the Warriors firmly in control of the series 2-0. Quicken Loans Arena has been a place of comfort for the Cavs in the playoffs. The Cavs are currently 7-2 in the playoffs at home this year and use the familiarity of home to climb out of a 2-0 home against the Celtics in the Conference Finals.
Going home has proved to be a pick me up for the bench players where they seem to play a lot better at home. The home cooking will be necessary if the Cavaliers are going to climb back into the series after a heartbreaking loss in Game 1 in which the Cavs had an opportunity to seal the game with 4 seconds left in regulation and George Hill at the free throw line for 2 shots.
Hill, sporting an 80% free throw percentage this season, connected on the first attempt but missed on the second. J.R. Smith, however, came up with the rebound but apparently was unaware of the score and clock situation. He dribbled out to the 3 point line without attempting a shot and passed to the baseline corner for a contested 3 as time expired.
In Game 2, the Cavs trailed the entire game and never really threatened the Warriors. Thanks to continuous missed wide open 3 point shots and poorest defense the Warriors led from start to Finish. The game was in reach for the Cavs if they were able to make a run in the 4th quarter as the ended the 3rd down by 10. However, Steph Curry, by some considered the greatest shooter of all=time erupted for 16 of his game-high 33 points in the quarter, effectively putting the game out of reach.
