The Rich Get Richer

While some may have thought LeBron James's announcement to join the Lakers was big news, the shocker of the offseason was dropped by DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins. Cousins yesterday inked a 1-year, 5.3 million dollar deal to play for the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

The deal was far below what Boogie, an all-star coming off a career-changing Achilles injury suffered last season, was expected to command in the open market. When asked why he took such a lower than market deal to play for the Warriors Cousins camp replied,

“He is all about winning.”

This acquisition further strengthens a championship team that seemly already has a stranglehold on the rest of the NBA. Even though Cousins is coming off an injury that has altered the careers of others before him, he will no doubt give the Warriors an unfair advantage.

He provides them with a post presence that they have never had, another perennial all-star at the center position to go along with 4 all-stars in the remaining starting five. Now the league is almost impossible to watch, as assuredly as the rest of the league is again faced with the task of beating the best team who undoubtedly just got better. Way better.
