Houston Rockets restricted free agent Clint Capella has officially resigned a 5 year 90 million contract to return to the team. Capella initially turned down the same offer earlier in the free agency period hoping to get an offer from the Rockets that reflected what he could get on the open market.

The contract standoff eventually ended with Capella taking the initial offer with the alternative being to play the 2018-19 season under the 4.3 million qualifying offer. That would have allowed him to enter 2019 as an unrestricted free agent but also would put his future at risk if an injury would have occurred.
Capella is a key component of the Rockets title hopes. The 24-year-old forward had a career year averaging 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, while shooting a league-best 65.2 percent from the field.
