The Cleveland Cavaliers have locked up Kevin Love for the next 5 years by signing him to a 4 year 12o million dollar extension that will keep Love in Cleveland. The total of his contract is now 5 years 145 million.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported earlier in the day that the Cavs had locked up their All-Star forward. This move is an indication that the Cavs plan to compete instead of rebuilding after losing Star forward LeBron James to free agency early this month.

Love will be the focal point of the Cavaliers offense and will be counted on to expedite the development of their young core which includes first-round pick Colin Sexton, along with Cedi Osman. The Cavs still plan to explore a contract extension for key pieces like Rodney Hood and Larry Nance Jr as well.

Love has often been the subject of trade rumors ever since he arrived in Cleveland from Minnesota and has had to sacrifice his game to play alongside James and former point guard Kyrie Irving. Now he is primed to return to the player who lead Minnesota in 2013 when he posted averages of 26.1 ppg, 12.5 rpg, apg 4.4 while shooting 45.7%from the field, 37.6% from 3pt along with 82% from the stripe
